Instrction's Innovation Cell

About the Committee

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has instituted the ‘MHRD Innovation Cell (MIC)’ with the aim of cultivating a culture of innovation across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). MIC’s core objective is to stimulate, motivate, and cultivate innovation among young students, providing them with support to develop new ideas and translate them into prototypes during their formative years. MIC aims to promote the establishment of ‘Institution’s Innovation Councils (IICs)’ within chosen HEIs. These IICs will form a network to foster innovation within the institutions through various channels, ultimately creating an ecosystem conducive to innovation on campus.

Objectives of Icc

  • Promoting awareness among students, faculty, and staff about the significance of entrepreneurship for career growth and employability.
  • Equipping students and staff with academic resources to understand that innovation—whether in technology, processes, or business—is vital for addressing societal and consumer needs.
  • Encouraging entrepreneurs to innovate with a targeted focus on market niches.
  • Fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students through experiential learning opportunities, including training in cognitive skills such as design thinking and critical thinking, and hosting sessions with local first-generation entrepreneurs and industry experts.

  • Promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campus.
  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bounded fashion.
  • Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
