Center of excellence in technical education
AMACE Civil Department

Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1985. This was followed by a Post Graduate Programme in Structural Engineering in 2011.

All the Programmes are approved by AICTE. Mr.P.RAGHUNATHAPANDIAN M.E., (Ph.D)., HOD with a well-qualified team of faculty provides the right academic atmosphere for the students to become Civil Engineers par excellence with an aptitude for research.

In the past three decades, the department has seen a lot of progress in academics, research and consultancy activities. We have a dedicated faculty team of 12 members for UG and PG programs, out of which 1 are doctorates. The Department has state-of-the-art labs and classrooms.

Vision

We envision a department where technological resources will initiate promote and sustain the core elements of this vision. Nurturing emerging disciplines and the creation of new knowledge and artistic expression in response to a rapidly changing world.

Mission

  • Launch a well-equipped laboratory to persuade the thirst of students and research works
  • Establish the challenging faculty team to gratify the ever increasing demands of the student community
  • Inspire all the students and faculties to utilize the facilities provided and to learn the modern trends.
  • Finally to develop the students in to an innovative knowledge of excellence with professional ethics

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • To apply fundamental technical knowledge and skills to find creative solutions to technological challenges and problems in various areas of basic science and engineering
  • To take up higher education & to engage in research and development in civil engineering and allied areas of science and technology
  • To prepare graduates to deal with ethical and professional issues, taking into account the broader societal implications of civil engineering.
  • Use technical, teamwork, and communication skills, along with leadership principles, to pursue civil engineering careers in areas such as structural, transportation, geotechnical, materials, environmental, construction, and water resources engineering or other fields.

Programme Outcomes(POS)

Graduates of the Civil Engineering program of Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman College of Engineering will have the ability to
  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identity, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations
  • The engineer and society: Apply to reason informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice
