Biotechnology department started in the year 2006. All programs are approved by AICTE as per norms with well developed infrastructure, curriculum and faculty who have experience in the Industry, Research and Teaching. We have experienced and dedicative faculty members of 8 for UG programme which include 1 doctorate.

Biotechnology department provides quality education, developing academic and intellectual skills in students which reflect in both the quality of learning offered as well as the research conducted within the campus. Department of Biotechnology aims at providing deep and breadth learning skills through electives such as Biopharmaceutical, Food technology, plant Biotechnology, animal biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, Tissue engineering, where students have the choice of selecting their specialized interest. Workshop, seminars are conducted every year to develop their skills and for their better understanding

Biotechnology is the field of science with a combination of Life Science and Technology. Though Life science has been a part of our society as botany, zoology and other Natural Sciences, the advent of Technology in the past 20-30 years has propelled the impact of biotechnology across Medical, Research, Food and Marine Biotechnology to name a few. With the growing demand for individuals who are versed in both the sciences and technology, Biotechnology graduates across the world have been involved with being in the forefront of science development

The Department realizes the potential of Biotechnology to expand its impact in the upcoming years and proactively looks to develop students to become contributors to the tomorrow's scientifically driven society. Department of Biotechnology has an approved intake of 45 by AICTE and offer UG Programme in Biotechnology. Department of Biotechnology is accredited by NBA and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

  • To apply fundamental technical knowledge and skills to find creative solutions to technological challenges and problems in various areas of basic sciences and engineering
  • To take up higher education & to engage in research and development in civil engineering and allied areas of science and technology
  • To prepare graduates to deal with ethical and professional issues, taking into account the broader societal implications of civil engineering.
  • Use technical, teamwork, and communication skills, along with leadership principles, to pursue civil engineering careers in areas such as structural, transportation, geotechnical, materials, environmental, construction, and water resources engineering or other fields.

  • PO1: Adept scientific knowledge Transfer: The courses taught are aimed to provide a strong foundation across the years in fields within Biotechnology such Medical Technology, Pharmacology, Marine and Food Science.
  • PO2: Biotechnologist and environmental health: This programme gave the potential to maintain and enhance environmental health by using their skills in waste water treatment, biodegradation, bioremediation and measurement of biodegradation
  • PO3: Staying updated on the Latest Developments: With Biotechnology, Research and Development across the world have been offering breakthrough understanding on a daily basis. Students will be expected to stay updated and provided guidance by faculty on the latest development in Biotechnology
  • PO4: Maintenance of health through Medicine and Food products: Graduates understand the source, general features of microbes which produce the fermented foods, enriched foods and also learned biological techniques to estimates antibiotics to enhance health of livings.
  • PO5: Hands on training on learned concepts: To supplement classroom learning, students will also be provided hands on training through State of the Arts Laboratories and Trained staff.
